After ongoing complaints from local residents about the stench from the Strandfontein sewerage works, the Friends of Zeekoevlei and Rondevlei and the Zeekoevlei Civic Association undertook a site visit to the treatment works on 4 March 2009. These pictures are a selection of what they found in the back dunes north and east of the Cape Flats Waste Water Treatment Works (CFWWTW).
From the east looking west – shows sludge lagoon’s proximity to the digesters at the CFWWTW plant.
This is another view of the biggest dump we found. The strong growth along the edges shows that the material is nutrient-rich.

I am contemplating looking to buy a place in the Zeekoevlei area but I am worries about the state of the vlei etc. are my concerns unfounded? I have the option of Marina da Gama or Zeekoevlei and i am in two minds. could someone spell ou t me the pros and cons of staying the area?

They may be dumping sludge on the back dunes again, investigation is underway and heaven help them if they are!!!
