FoZR – scorched earth – walk – Workers Day

01 May Posted by in Environment | 3 comments

Yawn – after a hard nights partying I dragged my sorry butt off to Rondevlei to take a look at the results of the ecological burn of the past week. Dalton as usual chipper and bright and a font of interesting information led us on a stroll through the mud flats and edumacated the heck out of us, it was great. – photo credits to FoZR Chairperson, Dee.

We all wore our best shoes for the mud trekking to follow

The new and improved path, flanked by still smouldering after-burn

The usual suspects

Yeti was here… or maybe a hippo

What is more interesting, Dalton or dinosaur bones?

Thanks Dalton, it was really interesting to see and hear about post fire wetland and learn about what happens when the water is out. And the home baked bread Kia brought to keep us going was superb, sorry for you, those who didn’t make it.

Sorry for us who did not make it, however we are examining fossils in the great Karoo for a few weeks! Pity to have missed the walk!

Always good to walk with a human encyclopaedia 🙂
