Hi Richard
Please could you put a request out for us to the Friends & neighbours, to please see if anyone can source 25 litre plastic buckets to donate to Rondevlei.
As you have probably noticed, we are busy replacing the fencing along Peninsula Road between the corner Victoria Rd & Dalton’s house. A section remains incomplete because the ground is too wet to set poles, but once the area dries up a bit more, then the contractor will be returning to finish the job. For this we desperately need to collect about eighty 25 litre buckets, as we would like the contractor to plant each fence pole within a bucket so as to prevent cement leaching out into the wetland soils where it will alter the pH & possibly be toxic to certain frogs in this area.
The buckets can be old / secondhand sunflower oil or paint buckets. Buckets can be dropped off at the Rondevlei gatehouse. If anyone has a contact e.g. in the fast food industry etc. who could supply us with a large batch of buckets that would be great.
Thanks very much.
Kind regards
Tamaryn Allan

could i ask, whilst constructing this rather tall fence, that the guys remember to cut or leave the underpasses for the buck? also please to not upset the weavers that have been nesting for years at witches pool opposite van blom. there are possibly hatchlings already and it would be a shame to upset the colony that has been studied and tracked for some time.
then i have a couple of buckets i will donate, if due care is taken. However, the plastic also breaks down, not into biodegradable pieces, much like cement…..
