Nature Reserve Update

Dear Sir/Madam,

It has come to our attention that your organisation/website has information posted about one or more of the City of Cape Town nature reserves and/or partner sites.

Please kindly update the information that has changed over the past year. Various nature reserves have now been formally declared.

Reserve name: False Bay Nature Reserve

Reserve details:
The False Bay Nature Reserve consists of the Rondevlei section (previously referred to as the Rondevlei Nature Reserve), Zeekoevlei section (previously referred to as the Zeekoevlei Nature Reserve), Strandfontein Birding Area, Pelican Park section, Slangetjiebos section and Sandwolf coastal section. These City nature reserves form part of the Biodiversity Network and conserve Cape Flats sand fynbos, Cape Flats dune strandveld, Dune slack wetlands and wetland ecosystems. Species numbers are now updated as follows:

Amphibians 6
Reptiles 31
Fish 10
Mammals 24
Insects Not confirmed
Plants general 320
Plants endemic 2
Plants listed on Red data list 17
Any special or endangered animals found on the reserve A population of Hippopotamus, Western Leopard toad, Kedestes butterfly species.
