Land disposal of wet sludge has been practiced in the past. Since the sludge pelletization plant has been commissioned, the drying beds are used as a first backup and the sludge lagoons as a last resort.

Other means of handling sludge. The sand drying beds and the sludge lagoons referred to above, could be used in an emergency.

The dewatered sludges can applied to land in accordance with the Guide: Permissible Utilisation and Disposal of Sewage Sludge. An alternative disposal route would be by co-disposal with domestic refuse on a Hh licensed landfill at Vissershok.
This is some nasty sh!t indeed!! I hope the officials realise we’ve had enough of their crap, obfuscation and stalling for the past 8+ years.
I think that the birding community would be up in arms to see how deep the poo is at this key birding site.

I called the local Municipality to compain about the stench of human waste in the air in Lotus River/GrassyPark. Come on guys, let’s all put pressure on these guys!Complain to your local Municipality& they’ll send out a Health Inspector.
