This is the new, approved by Zeekoevlei Nature Reserve Manager, shoreline protection method that has been installed at two very happy Vleibours homes on Peninsula Way. Its mostly green materials, good for wave action, froggies and boat handling NO MORE SLIPWAY REQUESTS…
Plants can be planted between the small gaps to further stabilize the embankments. The slope angle is variable from steep to very gentle with the bottom block embedded into the vlei. The Earthblocks are linked together with 4mm galvanized wire and pegged at the bottom for additional stability.
This is a permanent solution and is nature friendly.
Time is running out for any new work this year so bear this system in mind for next year.
There is now an experienced team doing the installations they have already done a couple of shorelines. They are managed by David Oertle of Crest Design and Construction cc who is happy to answer any questions and give quotes, contact him on 083 309 1515 or e-mail: dave@crestdc.co.za

Dave has plenty of nice clean soil that has been excavated out from 49 Peninsula rd, which is out next to the road, if anyone requires some fill soil…
If anyone wants to come and have a closer look, please shout. It’s looking beautiful and seems very effective (tho only time will tell). My next plan is to create a wetland system just above it: with Neil Major’s help I’ve planted everything that should encourage frogs and chameleons. Now I need a nice tadpole pond….
