From Caroline
Hi, I was wondering if you would like to post the attached image of the owl I photographed in our garden on the Zeekoevlei website.
The owl lives in one of the palm trees in our garden and almost every evening I have observed it leaving for it’s nightly foraging and sometimes if I rise early enough I see it retuning to its perch. It has been resident for about 1 1/2 years now. The image attached is the first time I have been able to get a good shot of it.
Regards

Hi Caroline Thanks for posting your beautiful photo. Would it possible for me to come take a photo too? Kind regards Kim 🙂
Good thing my housemate Caroline is up so early and is such a brilliant photographer too. So I can see our beautiful “wild pet” owl in full splendour without having to stalk it in the early morning hours 🙂 I think it is a boy so I nicknamed him “Harvey” .
I’m so jealous you got to see the owl, let along take such a lovely photograph! Nicely done…
Is this a Barn Owl? It seems a bit dark for a Barn Owl, so makes me think Grass Owl.. But seems Grass Owl is not really in our region.
We sometimes see a Spotted Eagle Owl near our house, and also near the Tennis Courts, usually in the early evening, as the light is fading.
Hi Caroline – spectacular shot!
