Hi, all you vleibours. Winter is knocking on our doorstep and soon the warm fires will be burning in our lounges. This week I was treated with a couple of wind still mornings on arriving at the vlei. The glass-like smooth water reflected the trees and mountains so magicly I had to stop and admire the the natural surroundings. The water mirrors the moods of the weather and everyday is completly different. These images inspire me in my work.

Hey Dave, you are quite right, the beginning of winter is a stunning time at the Vlei and now after the drawdown the birdlife is a treat, pity those who live in a city but not here in a nature reserve.

Winter is fairy tale used to scare children at Zeekoevlei into going to bed early. Its 28C here in Ocala, and I mow the grass which had not grown all winter, but two weeks of spring and bloom the weeds took over.
