This morning (Sunday 27th April ) a man called at our gate and handed over a medium size hold-all which contained another bag, a foul weather jacket, some papers and a key tag with a name which is not known to us. He had found the bag nearby at the side of the road. He thought it may have been dropped, or possibly stolen.
We know how to contact him as he told us he has a relative working on the Peninsula.
We said we would ask you to advise residents of this find in case anyone is missing the items and may wish to claim them – or whether anyone has had a bag stolen.
We feel morally obliged to give the bag and its contents to its finder (especially in view of his honesty in handing it over) if it is not claimed, but it would not be right to do so until all reasonable steps have been taken to find out if anyone who either lives or works at Zeekoevlei has lost the bag.
The honesty and integrity of the man who gave us the bag is highly commendable.
Thanks.
Rod and Clare.
