Ultra Beach Run

11 Mar Posted by in News and Events | Comments

Good morning FoZR

As a quick intro – Clean C is hosting a fund raiser Beach run on Saturday the 29th of March 2014. We would love for your club to attend.

We only have 150 spots available and we are running (excuse the pun) a special on for clubs where if there are 10 entries bought – then we will throw in an additional 5 for the club to use – either to give to other members, sell themselves or pay it forward to a development runner (which either you could nominate or we have a group of 30 runners already identified from Joe Slovo Park). It’s a big part of our beliefs and values that we include development runners in our races. At our previous 2 races we had some youth from Joe Slovo Park take part as well as 15 people from the Cape Town Society for the Blind.

I would be happy to come through to the club to tell the guys what we do and a little bit more about the run itself. It’s our 3rd beach run. Photos attached of the previous 2 events.

Entries are online on www.cleanc.co.za and once an eft/bank transfer is made – a confirmation mail will be sent out to the runners.

Entries cost R80 and participants will be given a bottle of water, some colour powder and a really unique funky medal at the end. Proceeds will go towards Cape Town Beach Cleanup the has been doing cleanups around Cape Town for the last 3 years and are looking to start up some recycling projects as well as an outdoor PA system for future events.

There are 3 distances. A 2.5km, 5km fun run/walk and then a 12km ultra Beach Run. The run will start at 8:30am AT LOW TIDE and will be run on the hard flat sand out from Milnerton Lighthouse towards Dolphin Beach and back. It must be one of the most spectacular beaches to run along. Nice flat, compact hard sand with a rather spectacular view on the return trip J

Please let me know if you would like me to come around and chat to the club about the run. Otherwise it would be great to have you guys there.

Lastly – 2 of my favourite photos attached – one is of a lady leading a Blind Person on the run. These guys had just been to a funeral and thought it would be fitting to come and “celebrate” that persons life by having a group run on the beach. There is also a shot of a father, his son and their dog. The father has aprox 10% sight but he is a computer trainer at CTS and has trained one of my staff members. More often than not is it our own belief that is the disability and not anyone else’s physical ability.

Kind regards
