The Friends of Zeekoevlei and Rondevlei have received this request :
I am coordinating a research project, developed and implemented through the Percy Fitzpatrick Institute at the University of Cape Town. This project, called Blue Skies, has the objective of using birds as model species with which to explore and develop the concept of cultural ecosystem services.
Part of this project involves evaluating people’s perception of different birds. This is achieved through a 15-20 minute survey, during which participants are shown photos of 30 birds and asked to describe their response to these species. This is an inherently subjective process, and we are ideally looking for a wide demographic of participants. No prior birding knowledge is necessary.
If anyone is interested in partipating in a survey, please contact Kim at zoellerkc@gmail.com to organise a meeting.
I did this survey last year and it was lots of fun! if you have a few spare moments I would recommend doing it.
