Greetings everyone, There are two benches in Van Blommestein park and recently the bench overlooking the Vlei was vandalised totally in that all the wooden slats were removed, leaving only the two concrete side arms. It creates a wonderful opportunity for us to do something new. Using the existing remaining side supports I’d like to put back a wooden frame for the seat, cover it in fibreglass and cover the fibre glass with a mosaic . The mosaic will be beautiful, blending into the park with suitable creatures on it – chameleon, kingfisher, hippo, flamingos etc and will be designed by vleiside artists.
This small project needs your help. Any contributions of fibre glass or fibreglass resin or old bits of tiles or pottery to be incorporated into the mosaic, or of your time, skill and interest to help with the mosaic will all be gratefully received. Great idea. I’d like to see limited access to some of the unsavoury characters who park opposite no. 2 Otters Creek, then we wont have any vandals in the park
Me too about the unsavoury characters. The vandalism serms to be the work of inconsiderate young people. Daily sex, tik, weed smoking happens in the park and the obvious litter that accompanies those activities. The bench will be beautiful! Looking firward to getting stuck in!
