Zeekoevlei Yacht Club has organised for the Anchor Power Boat Association (http://www.apba.co.za) to come and give a skipper’s course for everyone that needs to certified to operate a power boat on inland waters. This would include coaches, rescue crew and anyone else that needs to drive a boat, and does not have a skipper’s certificate.
The details are as follows:
Date: Saturday 25th May 2013
Venue: Zeekoevlei Yacht Club
Time: Whole day – details to follow
Contents: Morning course work, followed by afternoon exam and practical
Cost: R2500. This may reduce depending how many people are interested.
Certification: Skipper Inland Water Category R
The description of the course is as follows:
Skipper of a power driven vessel limited to operating within a port, fishing harbor, tidal river, lagoon, estuary and all inland waters in South Africa. The minimum logged water time required is 25hr,s if you have attended training with a SAMSA approved training institution OR 50hr’s certified by a qualified skipper taking responsibility for tutorship or 100hr’s by yourself.
